During a weekend family visit during which some parents could not make it to the Academy to be with their sons, these boys were invited to watch Manchester City vs. Chelsea. The final score was 2-0 for Manchester. Departure was very early Saturday morning by bus and then they took the ferry, crossing the sea, to Holyhead. They had breakfast at the restaurant on the ferry. From there they took a bus to Manchester with a stop along the way to eat. They also visited Manchester City’s souvenir superstore.
One of our Spanish students has an uncle who is a manager for some professional players and he arranged for 4 boys to go to the locker room after the game, where they took a picture with some of the players and with Chelsea’s coach. One of the Spanish players gave us the jersey that he had just finished playing with.
After the game they went to the Shopping Mall of Strattford where they played minigolf, had dinner and then returned to Holyhead to board the ferry and return to Dublin. They arrived at the academy at 6:30 in the morning and slept until 1:00 pm.
It was very tiring, but the boys really enjoyed the trip, the game, and the experience. They did not have time to miss their parents and there was one dad who politely commented that his son asked if they could come visit him a different weekend, because the Academy’s plans were really good…
They came back super happy…!!!
