Why to study abroad?

Choosing where in the world you wish your child to study is not always an easy task. As well as your own personal interests, you should think about practicalities such as the costs of studying in that country (both tuition costs and living costs) and your child’s overall safety and welfare.

You should also think about what sort of lifestyle you wish your child to have during their studies.

Do you want arts and culture or world-class sporting facilities? Whatever your interests, be sure to match them up with your child study destination so that you really give them the best chance of loving their international experience.

Some reasons to study abroad:

Learn Foreign Languages

Language teachers say being totally immersed in a culture that speaks the language you want to learn is the quickest and most effective way to learn it. Mastering a foreign language opens up all kinds of new opportunities. As globalization brings the world together, it’s important to be competent in more than one language.

Aquire New Skills

When you study overseas, you can take courses you don’t have the opportunity to take at home. In addition to university classes, you can explore new hobbies or sports that aren’t as popular (or even possible) to practice. Traveling outside your home country is an education in itself, learning to interact with & navigate through a culture different from your own.

Personal Development

Discover what your child wants out of life. Becomes a more independent person.

Forge Lasting Memories

Most students who’ve studied abroad claim their time overseas was the best year of their life. They’ll meet new friends who will want to share their culture, ideas, and learn about yours. Create lasting memories and develop life-long friendships.

 Experience Different Cultures

Immersing themselves in a totally different culture is powerful. They experience things like trying different foods, celebrating traditional customs, and learning the history of another country. A person’s culture reflects deep perceptions, beliefs, and values that influence their way of life.

Human Formation

With our human formation program, students will mature in the many different aspects of their personality. They will know themselves in a real, objective way, and, because they are able to accept themselves, they can seriously work to improve.

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual formation is an ongoing process of conversion. The goal of the spiritual formation program is to help all the students develop an authentic spiritual life. Their thoughts and actions are influenced by a Christian view of the human person and of the world.

Apostolic Formation

Apostolic formation enables the students to go into society to serve as Christian leaders and apostles, actively responding to the needs of the Church and humanity, creating a civilization of justice and love. Through serving others and a vibrant apostolic life, each student discovers Christ, becomes more like Christ and experiences His love more profoundly.

The objective of apostolic formation is to develop in our students the heart of an apostle, a heart sensitive and responsive to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others.

Academic Formation

Oak International Academy sets high academic expectations for its students. Not only is solid intellectual formation an important part of the integral development of a person, it is essential to forming great leaders. By means of a challenging academic program they should acquire:

A greater proficiency in the English/French language, a wealth of knowledge in general culture, an ability to think, mature thinking,  capacity for reflection and imagination, habits and dispositions essential for ongoing intellectual formation after graduation like including study habits, concentration and critical thinking, perseverance, and a desire to produce high-quality work.
