Every student coming to the Academy has the opportunity of obtaining an English official certification. All students will sit at least two exams during the Academic year.
Our teachers evaluate their level and help them in developing their language skills, so they can obtain at least one official certification in English Language.
Students will generally progress from a pre-intermediate to an upper intermediate level during their year in Dublin Oak.
We would like to share some feedback received about our students last year from TIE examiners.
“The examiners felt that students had been very well-prepared and performed particularly well in the oral test. In the written test good use was made of the prepared material to respond appropriately to the set questions and the boys also performed well in the unprepared tasks. There was a good variety of books and the boys seem to have enjoyed reading them. In most cases it will be noted that the grades achieved in the oral test were generally higher than in the written test. This is to be expected given the boys’increased exposure to spoken English in an exclusively English-speaking environment. In all cases where the difference between the oral and the written tests exceeded one grade the written papers were rechecked.
On a personal note may I say on behalf of myself and the examiners that we were all extremely impressed with the behaviour of the boys. They were unfailingly polite and cooperative and a credit to themselves, their families and their school.”
